Is it just my imagination, or do none of the "Christmas Carol" movies mention Scrooge's sister? In the novel it is the memory of how loving and kind Scrooge's sister was that prompts Scrooge to regret the way he has scorned his nephew all these years. Yet in the movie this point seems to get glossed over. Scrooge has a nephew, and in the end makes up with his nephew, but you don't get to see any of the reason WHY. I suppose you could argue that the dinner scene with Fred, Scrooge, and the ghost of Christmas Present is where Scrooge softens in regards to his nephew, but a lot of times that gets shortened as well.

Quite! *gloats* It was my first (and as of yet, only. :b) professional play, too. I was Belinda Cratchit. It turned out to be a smashing hit, and very...talked about, since the Cratchit family ended up being negro. We got cracked on because of our... fluctuating British accents. *laughing*

Ms. Piggy's already black. Just look at her relationship with Kermit.

I was in the play version in high school. I was Scrooge's scorned lover. His sister was in there briefly when they flashed back to his boyhood. That is why he eventually feels guilty about being a scrooge to his nephew. I guess the movie execs don't think it's important enough to put in the movies. I guess it doesn't really matter, cause most people don't sit down and read the whole dickens book anymore. :p
